Bass Coast Festival is hiring a Slaybay Stage Build Team.


OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The position demands proficiency in using both hand and power tools and a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and efficiency. Team members will be integral to the setup and teardown phases of the Slaybay Stage. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in carpentry.

ABOUT BASS COAST
Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.

Moving into its 16th year, Bass Coast is an independent & artist owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’, 'Best Midsize Festival in Canada' by Canada Music Awards, and 'Best Music Festival in Vancouver' runner-up by the Georgia Straight Vancouver. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Participate in preshow communication and meetings
    • Report to the Slay Bay Build Manager to complete a successful stage build.
    • Utilize a wide range of hand and power tools, adhering to strict safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
    • Clearly label kit pieces during the build process for efficient disassembly and storage post-event.
    • Uphold safety standards by wearing the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established best practices for construction safety.
    • Assist in the management of inventory
    • Carry out additional tasks as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

      • Experience in construction or stage build projects, showcasing the ability to work effectively within a team.
      • Tickets for any machinery is an asset
      • Proficiency in using a wide array of hand and power tools.
      • Strong commitment to safety, evidenced by knowledge of best practices for construction safety and the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
      • Ability to work under tight schedules, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and solve problems creatively.
      • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a readiness to collaborate closely with the Build Manager and other team members to achieve project goals.
      • Previous experience in festival or event construction is advantageous but not mandatory.
      • Passion for the high-pressure and fast-paced environment of festival production.
      • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.
      • Ability to operate lifts and machinery is an asset, but not required.

        HOURS AND COMPENSATION

        Contract Duration:
        Wed. July 3 - Thurs. July 18: On the festival site.
        (Festival Days are not working days: Fri. July 12 - Mon July 15).

        Compensation:
        Flat rate day rate: $200/day

        Bass Coast offers an innovative, flexible and creative work environment. All Bass Coast employees work remotely and are required to have their own computer, file storage and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely via zoom with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
