Stage Access Host
Bass Coast Festival is hiring Stage Access Hosts.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The Stage Access Host is responsible for regulating access to the backstage and green room areas of the Bass Coast stages. Reporting directly to the Stage Manager and Security Director, this role involves verifying accreditation and ensuring the security of restricted zones.
The Stage Access Host plays a crucial role in ensuring a secure, respectful environment for artists and crew. They are the ambassadors of safety, verifying accreditation and guiding individuals backstage with warmth and efficiency.
The successful candidates must be available to work at the festival site from July 12 to July 15, and their shifts run from 9 pm to 4 am.

Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.
Moving into its 16th year, Bass Coast is an independent & artist owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’, 'Best Midsize Festival in Canada' by Canada Music Awards, and 'Best Music Festival in Vancouver' runner-up by the Georgia Straight Vancouver.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Verify the accreditation of individuals attempting to access restricted areas

Utilize non-confrontational communication techniques to respectfully deny access to unauthorised individuals

Monitor adherence to the festival’s code of conduct and report any concerns to the stage manager or production team

Uphold the festival's ethos and culture of respect and safety

Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanour while stationed at access points

Help clear the green room and backstage areas when necessary

Develop a supportive working environment with all stage team and technicians

Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse individuals

Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, particularly in dynamic and fast-paced environments.

Ability to use discretion when handling one-off situations.

Willingness to adhere to event policies and procedures, with a commitment to maintaining safety, harm reduction and professionalism.

Ability and desire to collaborate with a diverse team.
-
Comfortable working in varying environmental elements (wind, rain) for long hours.

Experience working or attending festivals and / or events.
-
Experience in event security, access control, or a related field is an asset.

Harm reduction education and de-escalation training is an asset.

Experience working with artists is an asset.

Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
Contract Duration:
June - July 2024: Available for minimal pre-show hours.
July 12 - July 15, 2024: On the festival site.
Compensation:
Hourly rate: $25 / hour
Bass Coast offers an innovative, flexible and creative work environment. All Bass Coast employees work remotely and are required to have their own computer, file storage and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely via zoom with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
