Trenching Manager


Bass Coast is hiring a Trenching Manager who will work closely with the Power Team and Site Operations team.

Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.

Moving into its 16th year, Bass Coast is an independent & artist owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’, 'Best Midsize Festival in Canada' by Canada Music Awards, and 'Best Music Festival in Vancouver' runner-up by the Georgia Straight Vancouver. 



  • Ensure that you are clear on the detailed plans for trenching and power

On Site:

Trenching Lead: 

  • Develop a detailed trenching plan in collaboration with the festival setup team.
  • Coordinate with other departments and other stakeholders to ensure timely installation of necessary services.
  • Check with Site Operations before digging all trenches to ensure that you do not hit any electrical or plumbing underground
  • Work with and supervise a team of trenching volunteers
  • Ensure all trenching activities comply with safety regulations
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and inspections to minimize risks.
  • Oversee the excavation, trenching, and backfilling processes.
  • Ensure the proper use of equipment and materials.
  • Address any issues or challenges that arise during the trenching process.
  • Liaise with other festival departments to resolve conflicts and ensure smooth operations.:
  • Maintain accurate records of trenching activities, including progress reports and incident logs.

Power Team:

  • Assist Power Manager with the following duties as assigned:
  • Develop good relationships with all necessary managers
  • Ensure all power is set up on time
  • Adhere to power schedule
  • Monitor power system 24 hours a day
  • Ensure generators are secured and locked at all times
  • Ensure that all cabling is safely secured
  • Develop a great understanding of the entire festival site
  • Ensure that generators are fuelled (Site Manager will work with you to ensure this happens)
  • Ensure generators are turned on and off and proper times
  • Ensure that Festival goers do not pull power from power points
  • Pack up and inventory all cabling
  • Prepare all distro to leave site ready for monday morningOther duties as required

Post Festival

  • Complete Feedback Form by July 31
  • Review with Reporting Manager
  • Make recommendations for the future Bass Coast Festival


Contract Duration:

Pre-show hours required: 

July 5 - July 12 and July 15 - July 18: On the festival site. 


Flat rate contract: $225/day

Bass Coast offers an innovative, flexible and creative work environment. All Bass Coast employees work remotely and are required to have their own computer, printer, file storage and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely via zoom with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
