"Hi! I’m Pablo, a Calgary-based designer and tattoo artist. I graduated from ACAD in 2007 with a degree in illustration and character design. Currently, I own and operate Mission Tattoo Parlour, a studio that has been a fixture in Calgary’s tattoo scene for over 13 years. Beyond tattooing, my creative journey has taken me through various industries. I’ve worked in VFX on films like Harry Potter and Ghost Rider, toured extensively as a musician, and trained in Muay Thai since the ’90s. My signature “double-up” designs have become a defining aspect of my work. This style emerged from my exploration of anatomical structures across different species, including humans. I’m fascinated by the interplay of multiple figures within a single composition and the way a viewer’s eye shifts between them. As an avid festival-goer and performer (especially back in the day!), I’m thrilled to contribute a piece to Bass Coast. Festivals like this foster a rare sense of community and connection—something that’s often missing in everyday life. Being part of that, even in a small way, means a lot to me."
