Gate Shift Manager

Bass Coast Festival is hiring multiple Gate Shift Managers.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The Gate Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth management of their assigned Bass Coast Gate while providing a world-class welcome to all Bass Coast attendees, staff and artists. Our ideal candidate will have experience with festival gate management and ticketing. They will have a passion for making people feel welcome and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. 

The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from Mon. July 7 to Sun. July 13 (specific dates may vary depending on the position).


ABOUT BASS COAST
Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, B.C., on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people. Now celebrating its 17th year, Bass Coast is an independent and artist-owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’. Bass Coast operates without sponsorship and is committed to upholding its founding ethical values, ethos, and environmental commitments.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Ensure the welcoming of each attendee, team member or artist.

  • Liaise with security to ensure Entry Conditions are maintained  

  • Communicate with other Gate Shift Managers regarding crowd movements

  • Liaise with Security and Parking managers to coordinate a smooth entry to the festival

  • Work with security to ensure prohibited items are not brought into the event

  • Possess a great understanding of our online ticketing system

  • Manage credit card transactions and valuables

  • Possess a great understanding of crowd management and customer service

  • Order supplies needed for Main Gate

  • Manage the dissemination and security of all wristbands and tokens

  • Schedule, train and supervise all gate staff and volunteers

  • Empower and motivate the volunteers to be diligent while having fun

  • Participate in meetings when needed 

  • Other duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience with Gates management

  • Experience working with ticketing programs and POS systems 

  • Experience managing cash sales and reporting

  • Experience managing a team of volunteers

  • Effective leader and motivator with interpersonal skills and team spirit

  • A solid understanding of Gates management procedures including communication protocol, de-escalation skills, and outstanding customer service

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, with demonstrated initiative and multitasking capabilities to track multiple priorities and deadlines. 

  • Ability to make decisions independently 

  • Ability and desire to collaborate with a diverse team

  • Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment and the outdoor elements

  • Experience working or attending festivals and / or events is an asset

  • Thrives in the high-pressure and fast-paced environment of festival production.

  • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.



HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Contract Duration:

Pre-show part-time hours: April - August 2024.

On the festival site: Mon. July 7 to Sun. July 13 (specific dates may vary depending on the position).

Compensation:
On-site day rate: $200-$250/day (rate depends on the position) and compensation for pre-show meetings.

All Bass Coast team members work remotely and are required to have their own computer and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and remotely with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
