Assistant Gate Manager

Bass Coast Festival is hiring Assistant Managers for the Bass Coast gates.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The position is responsible for assisting the Gate Managers with managing and overseeing operations at Gates. Our ideal candidate will have experience with festival gate management and ticketing. They will have a passion for making people feel welcome and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from July 9 - July 15, 2024, and be available for pre-show meetings.

Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.

Moving into its 16th year, Bass Coast is an independent & artist owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’, 'Best Midsize Festival in Canada' by Canada Music Awards, and 'Best Music Festival in Vancouver' runner-up by the Georgia Straight Vancouver.



RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Assist the Gate Access Manager with the following:

  • Welcome and process all in-house festival attendees (artist, guests, contractors, etc.)

  • Support all systems and processes related to ticket processing and accreditation at the staff gate.

  • Train and manage the Gate Volunteer team.

  • Liaise with Security, Gates, Parking, Artist Relations and other relevant departments.

  • Address ticketing issues as required.

  • Track and reconcile ticket stock inventory.

  • Monitor supplies and equipment, as well as, report and follow up on any ticketing repair issues.

  • Other administrative duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Experience with gates management and ticketing programs.

  • Experience working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

  • Experience handling sensitive customer disputes and issues.

  • Experience managing people and/or leading a team.

  • Experience working with cash.

  • Able to stay calm during stressful situations.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Must possess superior organizational abilities and attention to detail.

  • Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Comfortable dealing with police and emergency services.

  • Able to use discretion when handling one-off situations. 

  • Ability and desire to collaborate with a diverse team.

  • Comfortable working in varying environmental elements (wind, rain) for long hours.

  • Experience working or attending festivals and / or events.

  • Experience working with artists is an asset.

  • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.



HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Contract Duration:
Pre-show hours required.
July 9 - July 15, 2024: On the festival site.

Compensation:
Flat rate onsite contact: $200 - $250 / day (depending on the gate) and compensation for pre-show meetings.

Bass Coast offers an innovative, flexible and creative work environment. All Bass Coast employees work remotely and are required to have their own computer, file storage and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely via zoom with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
