Bass Coast Festival is hiring Team Kitchen Cooks.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The Team Kitchen Cook will assist the Kitchen Manager in coordinating and executing two healthy and filling meals per day for the Bass Coast Team. The Team Kitchen serves between 40 to 400 team members each day. The successful candidate will have the passion and skills for cooking healthy food.

The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from the date range of July 2 - July 19, 2024. (exact dates to be confirmed).

ABOUT BASS COAST
Bass Coast is a thoughtfully curated boutique electronic music and art festival held in Merritt, BC on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Syilx people.

Moving into its 16th year, Bass Coast is an independent & artist owned festival with accolades that include two consecutive wins of DJ Mag’s ‘Best Boutique Festival in North America’, 'Best Midsize Festival in Canada' by Canada Music Awards, and 'Best Music Festival in Vancouver' runner-up by the Georgia Straight Vancouver.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • To produce nutritious food using FoodSafe practices
    • Assist Manager with cooking and shopping
    • Assist with set-up and take-down the kitchen area
    • Assist with training volunteers
    • Adhere to specified meal times, coffee & tea requirements and snack times
    • Must clean all areas of the kitchen diligently after every meal
    • To courteously accommodate and direct any kitchen volunteers in meal preparation, chores and clean up of the entire kitchen and serving area.
    • Advise kitchen staff and volunteers of entry protocols and unsupervised access to any food or drinks

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Skilled in food preparation and knowledge of food storage standards and food nutrition.
    • Current FoodSafe certification
    • Familiar with vegetarian needs and other common food allergy conditions. Ability to cook with meat.
    • Experienced in meal preparation in a camp setting with limited equipment.
    • Experience working with volunteers.
    • Effective interpersonal skills and team spirit.
    • Must possess organizational abilities and attention to detail.
    • Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment.
    • Passion for the high-pressure and fast-paced environment of festival production.
    • Experience working or attending festivals and/or events is an asset.
    • Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.

    HOURS AND COMPENSATION

    Contract Duration:
    July 2 - July 19, 2024: On the festival site. (exact dates to be confirmed)

    Compensation:
    $200/day

    Bass Coast offers an innovative, flexible and creative work environment. All Bass Coast employees work remotely during pre-show and post-show and are required to have their own computer, and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely via zoom with team members. In-person meetings may be required. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada.
