About Bass Coast

An independent, artist-owned festival built on a shared love of cutting-edge electronic music, large-scale art installations, and an expressive, open-hearted community.

Our Story

Intimate Crowds. Big Moments.

Celebrating its 18th year, Bass Coast is an independent, artist-owned festival shaped by a shared love of cutting-edge electronic music, large-scale art installations, and an expressive and open-hearted community. Founded and led by Liz Thomson & Andrea Graham.

Bass Coast has grown into one of North America's most respected festivals for forward-thinking curation, unique stages environments, an innovative approach to harm reduction, and extraordinary attention to detail.

Recognized for its creative integrity and community spirit, Bass Coast has been awarded DJ Mag's Best Boutique Festival in North America for two consecutive years and named Best Midsize Festival in Canada by the Canadian Live Music Industry Awards.

Set against the stunning landscape of the shared traditional territories of the Nlaka'pamux and Syilx Nations in British Columbia, it continues to be celebrated on a global stage.

what People Say

"It's a place where people get silly to quite serious music."

Gove Kidao IVY LAB

"During a time when margins are slimming and performers are losing money on tour, Throwing an event like this is a monumental feat, and its astounding success is all owed to the coordinators, artists, crew, and volunteers who make it all happen."

Exclaim

"The fact that it's run by women, free of corporate sponsorship, and rooted in artistic expression has resulted in a carefully curated one that is intelligent, creative, and dedicated, in various ways, to the advancing human potential."

The Georgia Straight

“It is about art, community and getting down in an inclusive way. I do not fit in most places but I feel at home at Bass Coast.”

Fred P

"It's a festival that remains doggedly committed to nurturing its local community while earning its place on the world stage."
