Somewhere Stage Build Team Member
Bass Coast Festival is hiring a Somewhere Stage Build Team Member.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The position is responsible for supporting the construction, rigging of the iconic Somewhere Stage streamer art installation, and dismantling of the Somewhere Stage. The successful candidate will work closely with the Somewhere Stage team to ensure all assigned builds and rigging installations are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from June 30 - July 8 and July 13 - 14.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Become familiar with Somewhere Stage build needs, plans, rigging plots, and the streamer art installation prior to arriving on site.

Build all assigned stage construction projects under the direction of the Somewhere Stage build lead.

Work with the Somewhere Stage build lead to install and dismantle all rigging equipment the streamer art installation.

Ensure all structures and rigging installations meet safety, load requirements, and industry standards before sign-off.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Experience with carpentry, construction, structural builds, or rigging.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, construction plans, or rigging plots.

Experience with framing, decking, or platform construction.

Familiarity with load-bearing principles and structural integrity for temporary builds.

Experience with aerial/overhead rigging for stages or trussing systems is an asset.

Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations.

Fall protection certified is an asset.

Working at Heights certification is an asset.
-
Red Seal certification or carpentry trade training is an asset.

Strong organizational and problem solving abilities.

Capable of working in a constantly evolving environment.

Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Ability to lift and move construction materials.

Effective interpersonal skills and team spirit.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada unrestricted.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
June 30 - July 8 and July 13 - 14: On festival site
(Days off during the festival)
Compensation:
Flat rate contract: $2300
Meals on site on working days
In-house camping access

All Bass Coast team members work remotely and are required to have their own computer and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and remotely with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
