Bass Coast x OAKK T-Shirt

Cole Edwards is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver, Canada, known for his dynamic work in both audio and visual mediums. Operating under the music project name OAKK, Cole also excels as a designer with a focus on brand identity, print graphics, and motion design.

After earning his degree from the Alberta University of Art & Design in 2017, Colebegan his career at Critical Mass, an agency where he collaborated with high-profile clients such as AT&T, BMW, Infiniti, Marriott, and Red Bull. In 2020, Coletransitioned to freelancing, allowing him to further hone his skills as a designer and motion graphics artist.

In his freelance career, Cole has seamlessly integrated his design expertise with his musical endeavors. This fusion is evident in his work on web design, merchandising, live visuals, and music videos for OAKK, showcasing his ability to blend visual and auditory art forms into cohesive, immersive experiences.

“The concept for this design draws inspiration from the mesmerizing way water distorts and stretches images as it reflects, creating an ever-changing visual experience. Just as water can turn a clear picture into an abstract masterpiece, this exhibit aims to take the iconic Bass Coast logo and present it through the skewed reflection of water. The typography found below the logo uses the same principles, but this time through a photo scanner; moving and altering the position of the photo to manipulate the text and give an altered copy of the initial design.  Through these processes, we relinquish control, allowing the final artwork to be shaped by spontaneity and creative exploration, much like the ethos of Bass Coast as a festival.” - OAKK
